Okotoks in the Fall View

Image
Here I took something simple and I am very pleased with the way this photograph turned out. This is Okotoks Alberta when you are on the upper, south side of the Sheep River on the walking path looking down across the river. If you catch the views at the right time it can turn out pretty good. I have found that we, KassDays do enjoy videography and we also enjoy just taking simple photographs of things, animals, people and so on that we think are unique or beautiful in one way or another.  Here we have an example mostly of grass that is still standing in the fall that makes the picture all that much better. You look up the picture and you see the sun is changing the colours of that section of the sky, when you blend them all together it can be very beautiful.

Dragon Disply for Halloween in Okotoks

Image
Dragons, myself being a dragon statue collector, small statues that is, of course I am always attracted to nearly anything actual dragon. You would find that some say people are fascinated by Dragons because the dragons are a really fundamental embodiment of our wishes and dreams, McCaffrey says. How we long for a time when there were mystical dragons that would fight off evil and so much more. I think there are those of us that wish in our fantastical world that we could have a loyal dragon that would stand by our side as our guardian and friend. Today, dragons are celebrated and revered in Buddhist, Taoist and Confucianism traditions as symbols of strength and enlightenment. The full story of this last statement can be found here . Authored by Emily Zarka, Arizona State University. I would suggest giving it a read!

Changing Tires On Your Car

Image
It's that time of year, if you are a person that uses specific tires for certain times of the year, I'm guessing it's time in some parts of the northern hemisphere to get those tires changed over to winter tires. There are those of us that use all seasons and that is personal choice, I used to use all season but once I used winter tires for one winter and noticed the big difference I am sticking with using winter tires in the winter, much better traction. This video helps you through the basics of changing your tires over yourself, we have winter tires that are already mounted on their own winter rims, so we are just changing the whole whole tire and rim, nothing overly complicated. Remember, be safe and take the proper precautions, if unsure please consult a professional.

Halloween is Around the Corner - Happy Halloween!

Image
Halloween is one of the most exciting and spooky times of the year, where people from all over the world come together to celebrate the ghoulish holiday. It's a time for dressing up in your most creative and scary costumes, trick-or-treating, and telling terrifying stories around a bonfire. This year, we want to wish everyone a happy Halloween filled with all the spooky and eerie thrills that you could ever imagine. Whether you're planning to attend a haunted house or a Halloween party with your friends and family, we hope that you have a frighteningly fun time. But what exactly is the history behind Halloween, and how did it become such a popular holiday? Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which was celebrated on October 31st. The festival was a time of superstition, where people believed that the dead could return to the world of the living. To ward off any evil spirits, people would light bonfires and wear costumes to scare away the ghosts. As...

Walk Along the Shores in Kananaskis Country

Image
Walking along the shoreline of a lake can be a truly trans-formative experience. From the gentle lapping of the waves against the shore to the serene beauty of nature all around you, there's nothing quite like a peaceful stroll by the water. When it comes to writing about this experience, it's important to remember that the words you choose can be just as impactful as the scenery itself. To truly capture the essence of walking along the shoreline, you'll need to tap into all of your senses and let the natural beauty guide your thoughts and words. One effective technique is to describe the sights, sounds, and sensations you're experiencing in the moment. Maybe you notice the way the sunlight dances across the water's surface, or the sound of birds singing in the trees overhead. Perhaps you feel the damp chill of the water on your skin, or the soft sand between your toes. Beyond just describing the physical sensations, it's also helpful to explore the emotional im...

Snakes Migrating to Warmer Places for the Winter

Image
This is the Bull Snake and we took this video when we were down at the Provincial Park, Writing on Stone, which is in Southern Alberta Canada. In this southern area of Alberta they do even have highway signs stating that you need to be on the lookout for Snakes that may be crossing the roadways in their travels. We did manage to see a couple of them, we were not driving at the time, this one had slithered out from under a rock and was, at least I believe, making it's way down into the valley below. Assuming they may situate themselves under buildings and so on that are down there, there is a campsite below that in most parts is closed for the winter. Don't quote me, I think you can still go there, but the stores and showers and so on are shut down, you need to bring in your own drinking water and all food items that you think you will need. Keep that in mind if you are going to head there over the winter months.

We are now into Fall and Snow is on the way!

Image
KassDays took this picture approximately three weeks ago and you wonder 'How did time slip by so fast?' Aren't these flowers just gorgeous? There flowers were situated outside the Okotoks Museum, they have done a great job taking care of them I would have to say. When I was younger I was not such a huge fan of flowers but I sure do seem to have an obsession with them now, all kinds of pretty flowers, I want to view them, I want to have them, I want to take pictures of them. I'm sure there are others just like me but sometimes I do tend to surprise myself with the way that I tend to change from year to year. Looking upon that arrangement, aren't they simply the perfect mixture of colours? Orange hues with a bit of yellow and some greenery in the background, just like a work of art, any artists out there care to paint us a picture of this beautiful arrangement? Or even paint it for yourself, you just never know how far it can take you. When I look at this I want to kn...

Walk in Beauty from KassDays TikTok

Image
This is our walk around Okotoks Alberta on October 15th, 2023, are the colours of fall oh so wonderful? This is a pathway that we found just yesterday, so it is new to us, surely it has been there for quite some time but we only just found it, so happy we did.  It was such a beautiful day yesterday, we believe it got up to 19 degrees Celsius, didn't even need a jacket, it's wonderful to have those nice days in the fall in the part of the world we are living in. Having said that, we are in Southern Alberta Canada, a couple hours north of the American border, but we do get some nasty cold temps in the winter. The view in this video is quite awesome for me, just love the natural beauty that is free for all of us to enjoy, you just have to go out and find it for yourself. Even a tree that has lost all its leaves can be breathtaking, at least to us. Get your cameras out and go capture what you consider beautiful.

Calgary Zoo and Prehistoric Era Animals

Image
The Calgary Zoo in Alberta houses an incredible collection of animal species, including some of the most fascinating creatures from the prehistoric era. One of the most impressive specimens on display is the Pterosaur, a prehistoric reptile that is often referred to as a "Pterodactyl bird'. These incredible animals lived approximately 150 million years ago during the Mesozoic Era and were know for the ability to fly. The pterosaurs were the first vertebrates to evolve the ability to fly, which they achieved through a unique adaptation of their wings. The wings of a pterosaur consisted of a membrane of skin and muscle that stretched between their fingers and extended to their body. This allowed them to glide through the air effortlessly and cover huge distances. Although they are often referred to as "teradactyl birds", pterosaurs were not actually birds at all, but rather a completely distinct group of reptiles.

Calgary Zoo Prehistoric Dinosaur Exhibit

Image
Imagine yourself back in a time when these Dinosaurs actually existed, just picture yourself swimming in the lake and all of a sudden you have a creature such as this looking down upon you. What would you do, would you just scream or would you quickly try to figure out how you could get out of harms way, just in case the creature were not friendly? I think myself I would attempt to slowly back away, no sudden moves, no screaming to agitate the creature, after all it may not take kindly to someone screaming like a loon in their presence and may give you a good shaking just because you annoyed it. You can watch the creature as it watches you back away, look for any movements if it is also moving towards you, or is it regarding you as an annoying ant that it hopes will go away, you have to play it out and hope for the best. If you can scurry away without annoying the greater beast you will be far better off than ending up a screaming loon that gets tossed across the pond for being a nuisa...

Best Toilet Contents I've Ever Seen

Image
We went to the Calgary Home show and this is what we found, what do you think? I kinda like that, if you have a cool space where you have trendy things, this would fit in perfectly in my opinion. This is a toilet that was done up for the Calgary Home Show by the company called Pete the Plumber, they always seem to do some pretty cool stuff, they like to make plumbing fun, at least it does get a persons attention. We have actually had Pete the Plumber out to our house to do some work as well, it was always fantastic, they treated us well and we will be returning customers, candy or no candy. Someone is really thinking in that company when it comes to marketing and getting the regular persons attention, at least they always seem to get my attention. I love walking around at the local shows and seeing unique exhibits that move away from the norm and do their best to appeal to the general public, what do you think?

KassDays Goes Alien - Just for Fun!

Image
I'm going to say that Kass was bored on this day and was playing with some templates, what do you think of his alien look? Are you a person that sometimes likes to play around with software to see what it can and cannot do? Nowadays there are so many tweaks in all the different social media apps that the possibilities seem to be nearly endless.

Vulcan Alberta Demolition Derby

Image
I hadn't been to a Demolition Derby in years and Kass had never been to one before, it was a whole new experience for him, and he did enjoy it. If you have sensitive ears, we would recommend bring some headphones or something similar. It gets nice and loud, the cars for the most part are quite the rattle traps, but that's what they are supposed to be, it's all for great fun. It certainly was a clear sky hot day, but they had snacks and cold drinks for you to purchase. If you missed it this year, you really need to get out to see it next time.
