Adorable Mini Horses Steal the Show

Adorable Mini Horses Steal the Show: A Unique Showjumping Adventure on YouTube

If you’re a fan of heartwarming and unconventional animal performances, the latest YouTube short is an absolute must-watch. Filmed with a delightful twist, this captivating video showcases the charm of mini horses engaging in a one-of-a-kind showjumping event. Unlike traditional equestrian displays, these pint-sized equine stars leap over obstacles without a rider, guided instead by a person running alongside, gently holding their reins. It’s a sight that blends cuteness with skill, proving that even the smallest horses can shine in the spotlight.

The video opens with these tiny athletes trotting onto the scene, their miniature stature, typically standing no taller than 34 inches, immediately winning over viewers. What follows is a series of carefully choreographed jumps, where the mini horses clear low hurdles with surprising agility and grace. The person running beside them provides just enough direction, ensuring safety while allowing the horses to demonstrate their natural talent. This riderless approach adds a unique layer to the performance, highlighting the bond between handler and horse, and offering a fresh take on the classic sport of showjumping. The footage captures every bound and leap, set against a backdrop that hints at a lively outdoor event, making it a visual treat for animal lovers and sports enthusiasts alike.

What makes this video particularly special is the sheer personality of the mini horses. Known for their friendly demeanor and versatility, these little equines are often bred as companions or for light work, but here they take center stage as athletes. Their tiny legs move with determination, and their expressive faces, complete with pricked ears and focused gazes, add a layer of charm that’s hard to resist. The absence of a rider not only showcases their independence but also emphasizes a safer, more playful approach to the sport, appealing to a wide audience. Posts found on X reflect a mix of sentiments, with some finding the display cute and others debating its safety, but the overall buzz underscores the video’s ability to spark conversation.

This YouTube short is more than just a quick watch, it’s an invitation to explore the world of mini horses and their unexpected talents. The Back Roads to Spruce Meadows: A Journey for the Soul

There’s something undeniably magical about taking the back roads from Okotoks, Alberta, to Spruce Meadows in Calgary. The image of that long, winding road stretching toward the horizon, flanked by golden fields and bare trees, with the snow-capped Rockies looming in the distance, captures a feeling that’s hard to put into words. It’s a quiet escape, a chance to leave behind the hustle of the major highways and embrace a slower, more soulful way to travel. For those of us who’ve been making this commute for years, these back roads aren’t just a route—they’re a ritual, a way to reconnect with the land and ourselves.
The Appeal of the Back Roads
The journey begins just outside Okotoks, where the pavement narrows and the landscape opens up. The road in the photo stretches straight ahead, a ribbon of asphalt cutting through rolling fields that glow amber in the late-season light. On either side, clusters of leafless trees stand like silent sentinels, their branches reaching for a sky so blue it feels like a promise. In the distance, the Rockies rise, their peaks dusted with snow, a reminder of nature’s quiet majesty. This is the kind of view that makes you want to roll down the window, breathe in the crisp air, and let the stillness wash over you.
For years, my family and I have chosen this route over the busy Deerfoot Trail or Highway 2, especially when the weather is good. There’s no traffic to contend with, no rush of semi-trucks barreling past—just the hum of the tires on the pavement and the occasional glimpse of a farmhouse or a utility pole breaking the horizon. But as time has passed, I’ve noticed these back roads getting busier. More cars dot the stretch, a sign of Alberta’s growth, as more people discover the charm of this quieter path. Still, it remains a sanctuary, a place where you can drive with the windows down and feel the world slow down.
Stopping to Savor the View
One of the joys of this route is the opportunity to stop and take it all in. There are a few spots along the way—unmarked pullouts or wide shoulders—where you can park, step out, and let the landscape feed your soul. The photo captures one such moment, where the road seems to invite you to pause, to pull over and snap a picture of the mountains framed by the endless sky. Why not? In a world that’s always rushing, these moments of stillness are a gift. Standing there, with the wind rustling through the dry grass and the faint scent of pine in the air, you can feel the weight of the day lift. It’s a chance to savor the beauty of Alberta’s foothills, to let the view remind you of what truly matters.

Spruce Meadows Christmas Lights Display

The Spruce Meadows blue light up Christmas trees is a stunning holiday display that has become a new favourite of ours, and likely many other Calgarians. But what makes this tree so special?

From a distance to me, I assumed it was simply a decorated tree, but this tree is made of all metal, branches and all, we even went as far as looking at the panel at the base of one of these trees, looks like quite the amount of hookups are needed.

The colour I think is what attracts plenty of people, they really stand out and of course Spruce Meadows did place them strategically where they would have the most impact. Whoever does the decor designs for Spruce Meadows is an amazing person, or persons.

This was our first year to go and take a look at the Christmas Lights at Spruce Meadows, but now that we have been we will be going back again next year, I wonder, even right now, will many of the decorations be the same, or will they design it uniquely different? I'm hoping the the unique, it can then be a surprise each year that we go to see the display.
