Built in 2000, visitors can climb 106 stairs inside her for breathtaking views of the rugged badlands from her massive jaws. Calgary Zoo and Prehistoric Era Animals

The Calgary Zoo in Alberta houses an incredible collection of animal species, including some of the most fascinating creatures from the prehistoric era. One of the most impressive specimens on display is the Pterosaur, a prehistoric reptile that is often referred to as a "Pterodactyl bird'.

These incredible animals lived approximately 150 million years ago during the Mesozoic Era and were know for the ability to fly. The pterosaurs were the first vertebrates to evolve the ability to fly, which they achieved through a unique adaptation of their wings.

The wings of a pterosaur consisted of a membrane of skin and muscle that stretched between their fingers and extended to their body. This allowed them to glide through the air effortlessly and cover huge distances. Although they are often referred to as "teradactyl birds", pterosaurs were not actually birds at all, but rather a completely distinct group of reptiles.
