Yukon Gold Potato Harvest for Our Small Family

Image
Growing Yukon Gold Potatoes: A Harvest for Small-Time Gardeners For small-time gardeners, growing Yukon Gold potatoes can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience. These potatoes are known for their golden-yellow flesh, buttery taste, and firm texture that make them perfect for baking, frying, and boiling. Harvesting potatoes is a process that requires patience, planning, and careful attention to detail. The best time to harvest Yukon Gold potatoes is when the plants have started to die back and the leaves have turned yellow. This usually happens around 100-120 days after planting. To start the harvest, use a garden fork or shovel to gently loosen the soil around the potato plants. Be careful not to damage the tubers as you work your way around the garden bed. Once the soil is loose enough, pull the plants out of the ground. Now it's time to dig for gold! Use your hands or a digging fork to gently unearth the potatoes. Be sure to remove any loose soil and rocks as you go. As you co...

Moonlight in Southern Alberta

Image
We are in Okotoks Alberta, which is in Southern Alberta, in case you did not know that already. We are a pair that likes to be out and about to see some of the great events that take place outside, even if it is simply an image of the Moon. Having said that, is there a Man on the Moon, I remember when I was a child I would look at the Moon and imagine there was a Man on the Moon and he was always looking down at us, would that be down, or, over at, or up? I looked it up, The moon can be either up or down in reference to the earth, all depends on what point of the earth you are looking from. To find more info an that, please check here . We do have a full length video coming on on some of our images of the moon, that video can be found here, KassDays Moonlight in Southern Alberta .

Kananaskis Country Alberta - What Do You See?

Image
This is Kananaskis Country, there are so many different locations you can go to in Kananaskis and there is always more for us to discover. I like to be out and about, it helps to clear my mind. There are more small journeys we wish to take before it gets too cold to do so, as we only have a tent that attaches to the back of our wagon. We do have a propane heater we can bring along, which we will, just to warm it up here and there. We go to a place where we hope to find some wonderful learning adventures that we can share with you. I find my need to learn and discover great experiences is quite strong as I get older, I wonder if that is the same for many as they age as well? Watched one of the YouTubers we regularly watch, he had just a short video this morning, I'm going to say he was very upset, a friend had lied to him, I totally understand how he feels, been there and done that. This is why we must all find our Peace out in Nature, or where we can find true peace.

Alberta Photography in Kananaskis Country

Image
If I'm not mistaken this photo is of Barrier Lake which is out in Kananaskis Country. Barrier Lake is a man made reservoir on the north end of Kananaskis Country here in Alberta Canada.  This body of water is Mountain water which means it is very cold, if you fall in, it will affect you immediately. So be careful around these mountain fed bodies of water. Beautiful to admire but give them the respect that they deserve. Can you imagine having a home where you had such a view? I could sit there all day and look out at it, or does it wear off after awhile? Not sure, when we travel a bit and stay in hotels that do have a good view, we do spend quite a bit of time admiring the view. I recommend to myself to get out in nature, find the peace and quiet so that I can bring myself back to the person that I wish to be. Get rid of the stress and take some deep breaths, enjoy the view.

Star Trek Enterprise Stop in Vulcan Alberta Canada

Image
This was a great visit to Vulcan Alberta, especially if you are a Star Trek fan. I remember watching Star Trek a lot when I was a child, just loved it. Visiting places like this Vulcan Museum sure brings back the fond memories. If you are ever in Southern Alberta you should make a stop by and see this little Gem.

Barrier Lake in Kananaskis Country, what do you think?

Image
I think Kananaskis country is so beautiful and whenever I look at that beauty it relaxes me. From what I read up on Barrier Lake it is fed by a glacier so it is very cold, so not likely very comfortable to be in for extended periods of time. Barrier Lake is at the north end of Kananaskis Country in Alberta Canada. Highway 40 is the road we travelled to get there.

Elbow Falls Kananaskis Country Alberta Canada

Image
A photo just to entice you to the videos we will have coming up, this is a picture that is at Elbow Falls, doesn't it look like to you that water is coming right out of the rocks there, someone turned on the tap and it is pouring out? If only life and water were that simple. I have decided that I want more peace and beauty in my life and I am working very hard on achieving that. Going out to the Natural Parks and other special sites is all a part of that, it is discovery time. In the near future we were going to try a promo of our YouTube Channel to try and get more viewers and subscribers, so of course we are going to have a give away as well. But we need some help, what does anyone think would be a good type of contest to help decide who the winners would be?

Show and Shine in Okotoks Alberta - Orange Crush Van

This was in Okotoks Alberta at the 2023 Show and Shine, she sure is a gorgeous vehicle isn't she? Would absolutely love to have this van, big dreams for me isn't it? That would be camping in style plus! I'm looking for a van sized camping vehicle, I sure hope to find a decent priced used van we can convert into our dream camping rig.

Fireworks on Canada Day 2023 in Okotoks Alberta

Image
Here is a sneak peak of what we saw on Canada Day for Fireworks here in Okotoks Alberta. This is the first year we actually went out to take them in, that last few years we just saw a glimpse of them from home and that is as far as it went. It wasn't too bad, the fireworks in Okotoks are rather short though, have to admit that. We just sat in our vehicle up until the time the fireworks were nearly ready to get going, we just went by how many people were starting to congregate and adjusted ourselves accordingly. We were even thinking this time, we took a couple of folding lawn chairs so we could sit comfortably, now that's a good plan isn't it? We have a video coming out later today, September 1st, 2023 at approximately 4pm, you can watch them at this link after they log live; Okotoks Fireworks with KassDays .  Sincerely hope you enjoy them, they are only slightly over 5 minutes long. Thank you for viewing.

Elbow Falls Southern Alberta Kananaskis Country

Image
Elbow Falls, we took a drive out there and took in the view, got our needed exercise and more. I love the absolute beauty of Nature, I love to see her and listen to her, never ceases to amaze me. I had a bit of an issue on this venture, we were set off to do some hiking and I was walking up an incline and, for the first time in a long time, I got a serious bout of Vertigo, I got so dizzy it was scary. Needless to say I had to turn around and go back down the stretch I had already went up, I was not stable enough to proceed, it was alarming to say the least. I'm hoping in all my heart that it was a one off, fingers crossed. Check out the link for out TikTok to see where it took place.
