Knightfall Competition Calgary Alberta Part 2

Image
This is part 2 of a 3 part series on the Canadian Knightfall Competition that took place in Calgary Alberta in June of 2023. Seriously if you have never went to see live combat with fully clad knights you really must go and check it out, at least once. Maybe you will like it and you will make a point of returning for future competitions. We like, we think it's different and interesting and it's great that they do try to keep it interesting by throwing in some humorous props to do battle with, you have to watch the series to find out more.

Ketchikan Alaska - Cruise Ship to Alaska a Few Years Ago

Image
This was actually my first time on a large cruise ship, we boarded ship in Vancouver BC and went up to Ketchickan Alaska, I believe it was a 3 night cruise if I remember right. I've gotta tell you, I did truly enjoy myself and I didn't even get seasick, while many others did. I wore the sea bands and also took gravel, I surely did not want to get ill, because once you're ill it takes awhile to feel better. We were on the Princess Cruise Line ship, not the one you see in the photo btw. I do like exploring and seeing new things, I'm not into blowing money all over the place but I do love exploring. We did go on a couple of short excursions while in Ketchikan, learned a bit about the marine life in the area and also plant life. Knowledge tours, a good bonus! We are going to be putting our adventures and Experiences on YouTube so if you haven't subscribed there yet, please do so if you want to see what we've been up to.

Alberta Summer Games - BMX in Okotoks Alberta July 23, 2023

Image
Alberta Summer Games BMX competition, this was the final day of the BMX competition, it was nice to watch, there were a couple of mishaps, hopefully all ended okay for all participants. These youth are certainly talented with their BMX cycles, from what we can see they definitely have to hit those humps, (Are they called humps?"), correctly or you can end up face down, or up, on the track.  Only my opinion, the youth may get a bit more nervous too when there ore more people watching, but we are just guessing. We personally think they all did splendidly, like seeing the youth out there getting involved in activities.  If I could go back in time I would get more involved, I would choose a wider range of activities. When I was going to High School, I was in, Cross country running, basketball and volleyball, played a bit of softball here and there too. We didn't have much for water activities back then, I think Kayaking would have been cool to learn.

Alberta Summer Games Kayaking in Okotoks Alberta

Image
Did you make it out to see some of the Alberta Summer Games that took place in Okotoks Alberta? We were out at some of the events or the 3 days when they were taking place and we enjoyed them. It's nice to see the youth getting involved in sports and working hard to do the best they can.  I was involved in a few sports when I was younger but not to the extent of being good enough to be invited to the Summer Games, but I'm older, so I don't think Summer Games may have even been around where I was living at that point in time. Please check out the video, don't forget to Like, Subscribe and Share, we are KassDays on YouTube .

Vulcan Alberta Demolition Derby

Image
Vulcan Demotion Derby, we had a great time, did you make it out, it was pretty darned busy. It was a well set up even, plenty of food and drink to be found, great entertainment, turned out better than I had hoped for. Had been years since I had been to a Demolition Derby, probably 20 plus years to be honest, but sure had some fun. They even auctioned off the drivers in some sort of bid, you could earn some cash if the driver you bid on won, pretty good deal, but you do need to win.  We are going to be uploading some full length videos on our YouTube Channel in the near future, check out our YouTube channel here . It's been years since we've been to one of these shows and it was a nice change from the usual.

Calgary Stampeders Cheerleaders

Image
I've always been a fan of Cheerleaders, when I was a young girl in high school it was one of my fervent wishes, to be a cheerleader. I did try out for the Cheer leading squad and I did get chosen to be one of the Cheerleaders but unfortunately my family moved away right after that, so that dashed those hopes. Wanting to be a cheerleader was not about vanity, I wanted to be supportive of our teams, I was very active in sports when I was many years younger, I just wanted to be there and be a part of it all.I loved sports and was a member of several teams in my high school days. That's like 100 years ago I think, perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration, but hey, it's close.

Nature in Okotoks, Hanging out by the Geese and Goslings

Image
Take a walk and experience nature, if you're a fan of fuzzy newborn Goslings this is a video you need to watch so you can see their cuteness up close. Just a word of caution, I'm sure most people know that Geese don't care too highly for people coming too near their young, so do stay  back and the Geese will most times let you be. You may observe from a safe distance, all the while keeping in mind that the Geese have their ever watchful eyes on you.

Hailstorm in Okotoks and how our Greenhouse and Garden got Damaged

Image
You often hope that these seriously damaging hailstorms miss you, well this time we were not so lucky, our garden and greenhouse took a major hit. The plants we hope will recover somewhat, some may not come back, too soon to tell.  As for the greenhouse, we did manage to band-aid it up, went to the dollar store and bought some fairly sturdy plastic shower curtains and did a patch job, going to attach a pic here, doesn't look the greatest but it does keep some of our plants a bit more safe should another major hailstorm come through. Maybe next year we will get a sturdier small greenhouse.
