Chewie Steals the Show at Calgary’s POW! Parade 2025
One of the biggest highlights of the POW! Parade of Wonders in Calgary on April 25, 2025, was this incredible Chewbacca costume that brought a bit of Star Wars magic to the streets. Towering and shaggy, with a spot-on bandolier, this Chewie cosplayer strutted down the parade route near the Culture + Entertainment District, waving to the crowd with a Wookiee-sized grin. For me, seeing this larger-than-life character was a heartwarming escape—a brief moment to forget life’s troubles and just soak in the joy of fandom. The Calgary Expo’s kickoff parade never fails to deliver these uplifting surprises, and Chewie was a furry reminder of why we all need a little wonder in our lives.
