If you're still sitting on the fence and wondering where, how and if you want to get a Website or Blog going you are simply forgetting that you can do this for free, right here on the Google Blogger. It's going to cost you some time of course but the rest you can do yourself, really you can! Of course if you want to make money with your site you're going to need to monetize it, perhaps you will want to use Google Adsense or Google Affiliate Ads to earn a bit of extra cash for your efforts. Blogger has some great templates to choose from so you don't have to worry too much about design, choose the layout you want and go from there.
Check out the Getting Started Guide to see a bit more of what I am talking about. For the above mentioned items you will need a Google Account, an Adsense Account and also a Google Affiliate (Most people just sign up for an Adsense account) to get into all three of the mentioned options.
I know this may seem a bit daunting but trust me, once you get the hang of it, the actual content additions to your Blog shouldn't take long at all. There is a lot to learn, but take it one step at a time, develop your writing/publishing skills while you are waiting for the rest of your accounts to be approved.
If you want to be a food blogger for example, start putting your articles together, you can even publish them straight away and worry about your Adsense and affiliate accounts later. It can take some time (Perhaps a few weeks) to get approved for Adsense, be patient and follow the criteria that is required.
I've only slightly touched on this topic but the point is, don't pay out money when you can get going for free and even earn money if you follow the right steps. If you only want to build a personal website and don't wish to earn money off of it there is a lot less learning for you. On the other hand if you want to earn money off of your Blog you may want to start with learning some SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Take a look at some on page optimization tips for a starter.
